ROOSEVELTS IN THE REDWOODS. THE ROOSEVELT ELK ARE IN RUT AND THE TREES ARE TALL! ON: 30 August- 1 September 2002 COST: $ 250- Includes all instruction, two breakfasts, a gourmet dinner, and two slide programs. OBJECTIVES: To capture images of Roosevelt elk in their prime, during the mating season. The bulls will be very elegant with their racks. They spend the day chasing and attempting to mate with the cow elk and the bulls also bugle and chase other bulls around. Quite a sight and you’ll get photo opportunities too. This all happens in the old growth Redwood forest of Northern California which also offers wonderful photo opportunities. There are the trees, creeks, fern canyon and the beach to shoot as well. I have been shooting this tour since the late 1980's and still love it. WORKSHOP: We will meet Friday evening for introductions and a slide program to introduce us to the area. Saturday morning will begin early and breakfast will be included. Shoot all day Saturday with the above options. Saturday evening will include dinner at my favorite restaurant (a real treat), and another slide program. Sunday will be more of the same including brunch then ending after that. The beauty is... Monday is a holiday. So no need to rush back to work, northern California has so much to offer and there is more to photograph! LODGING: There is plenty of camping and a decent motel right there in the heart of it all!
