Prairie Dogs-They're so cute!
Wichita National Wildlife Refuge more than just the dogs

ON: 26-29 March, 2005

COST: $350 will include ground transportation and field time at the refuge.

OBJECTIVES:  Spend time photographing on the Wichita Refuge and focus on the Prairie dog town.  It is an afternoon shoot with good light or backlighted in the morning. The prairie community hums with life. The refuge provides habitat for large native grazing animals and Texas Longhorn cattle. Bison, elk, deer, coyotes, red-tailed hawks, prairie dogs, turkey, bunch grasses, post oak and blackjack oaks - these are just a few. More than 50 mammal species, 240 bird species, 64 reptile and amphibian species, 36 fish species, and 806 plant species thrive at this refuge.

WORKSHOP:  We will be shooting at sunrise and taking a break in the middle of the day and going back out for afternoon light until sunset.  We will be staying at a local motel and eating in restaurants there also.  We will travel as a small group into the refuge and have middle of the day to work on digital files, relax, or do whatever.
